Father’s Day

Fatherhood comes in many forms. Whether it’s a biological dad, stepfather, grandfather, uncle, foster carer, or a cherished mentor, father figures play a vital role in shaping our sense of safety, belonging, and identity. In today’s diverse families, the meaning of “dad” is beautifully expansive—and worth celebrating.

For many, Father’s Day is a joyful occasion filled with laughter, shared memories, and heartfelt gratitude. For others, it may stir complex emotions—grief, longing, or reflection. That’s why it’s important to honour fatherhood in all its expressions, recognising the strength, guidance, and everyday presence that father figures offer.

We celebrate the dads who show up with open arms and listening ears. The ones who teach us how to fix a leaky tap, navigate life’s challenges, or simply sit beside us in silence. We honour the men who model emotional resilience, kindness, and integrity in many arenas – not only in family settings.

In blended families, chosen families, and solo-parent households, father figures may not fit traditional moulds—but their impact is no less profound. Their love is often expressed through small acts: a packed lunch, a school run, a bedtime story, or a quiet prayer.

This Father’s Day, let’s celebrate the men who nurture, protect, and empower. Let’s acknowledge the fathers who are present in spirit, memory, or legacy. And let’s extend gratitude to all those who embody fatherly love—regardless of title or biology.

Because fatherhood, at its heart, is about connection. And connection is always worth celebrating.
